Entry Pavilion for Prospect Park
A Place of Rest Within The City
Summer 2025

Proposing a design for a classical entry pavilion at Prospect Park in Brooklyn is the capstone project of the Institute of Classical Architecture's New York Summer Studio. Currently, the site is only marked with two freestanding columns designed by McKim, Mead, & White. Each student of the program combines architecture, landscaping, and urbanism to develop an approach to the park from Bartel Pritchard Circle, drawing on precedent from various classical and traditional buildings in the New York area. The program for the pavilion mandates three spaces: a covered walkway and two enclosed rooms for shelter, park information, and refreshments. My design draws on the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul for the arcuated and domed colonnade in the center, and takes inspiration from Palladio; McKim, Mead, & White; and Helmle, Hudswell and Huberty's Tennis Pavilion in Prospect Park for the side rooms.
